I assume an attachment to our own lives fits here. We have an aversion to death, meaning we have an attachment to life. I agree that letting go of the attachment to children is brutally hard. Letting go of our own lives is probably in the top ten toughest attachments to let go of.
The concept of "the glass is already broken" allows one to love so much more deeply and genuinely.
